Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ShelterSponsor (the "Platform"), operated by Hermes Guild ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating a grid, claiming a slot, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract to use this Platform. By using it, you represent that you meet these requirements and have the authority to act on behalf of any organization you represent.
3. Account-Less Access
ShelterSponsor does not require user accounts. Organizers manage donation grids through tokenized URLs. You are responsible for keeping your organizer URL confidential; anyone with the URL can manage the associated grid. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from a shared or leaked link.
4. Subscription and Payments
To publish a donation grid, organizers choose one of two monthly subscription plans:
- Starter ($5.99/month): includes 1 active donation link.
- Pro ($19.99/month): includes unlimited active links plus donor CRM and management features.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Grids remain live until manually archived by the organizer. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
5. Donor Obligations
When you claim a donation slot, you commit to fulfilling the requested item or contribution. You agree to provide accurate contact information and to coordinate delivery with the organizer using the displayed fulfillment instructions. Claiming a slot constitutes a commitment between you and the organizing organization; ShelterSponsor facilitates the connection but is not a party to the resulting donation.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purposes.
- Submit false or misleading organization or donation information.
- Claim slots with spam, irrelevant, or prohibited links (including gambling, pharmaceuticals, or adult content).
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Platform.
- Impersonate another organization or individual.
We reserve the right to remove grids, slots, or content that violate these Terms at any time.
7. Tax Receipts
Donors receive an automated receipt reflecting the claimed item and the organization's provided EIN. The tax-deductibility of any contribution depends on the organizing organization's tax-exempt status and applicable law. ShelterSponsor does not provide tax or legal advice; consult a qualified professional with any questions.
8. Intellectual Property
We retain all rights to the Platform, its design, and its content. Organizers and donors retain rights to the information they submit and grant us a limited license to display it on their grids. You are responsible for ensuring any logo, website, or content you submit is used with proper authorization.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that any donation slot will be claimed or fulfilled. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hermes Guild shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any claim arising from a donation arrangement between an organizer and a donor.
10. Termination
We may suspend or discontinue access at any time, with or without cause. Upon expiration of the needed-by date, grids and associated data are automatically removed from the Platform.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms periodically. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "last updated" date accordingly.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent through our contact page.
13. Service Overview
ShelterSponsor is a coordination platform that helps organizations ("Organizers") manage wishlists and donations from their community ("Donors"). ShelterSponsor does not own, hold, or manage any items, funds, or assets.
14. Direct Fulfillment
All transactions, including the exchange of money, goods, or services, are strictly between the Organizer and the Donor. ShelterSponsor is not a party to these transactions.
15. Financial Responsibility
ShelterSponsor does not process, hold, or distribute monetary payments. Organizers are solely responsible for setting up their own payment methods (e.g., Venmo, PayPal, Bank Transfers) and confirming the receipt of donations.
16. Tax & Legal Compliance
Organizers are responsible for ensuring they are legally authorized to solicit donations. ShelterSponsor does not provide tax advice or issue tax receipts. Donors should consult with the Organizer regarding the tax-deductibility of their gift.
17. Limitation of Liability
ShelterSponsor provides the platform "as-is." We are not liable for any lost items, failed payments, or disputes between Donors and Organizers.
